Circular hiking trail

Walking time: 1.5-2h

Before starting, to get in the mood for the naturalist's life's work, a visit to the small museum in the Siebenlehn town hall is recommended. Original bird specimens, reptiles, herbaria and ethnological objects from the Australian continent and local wildlife are on display. Current opening times are on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., visits for groups are possible on request by telephone.

The path begins at the market (with an orientation board) via Kirchgasse down to Niederstadt, turning into Amalie Dietrich Straße at the end of the forest edge and the path to Amalie Dietrich Höhe, with memorial stone and view. Designed as a small educational trail, it sharpens the eye for flora and fauna in the interests of explorers. A small bridge in the forest (currently not safe to walk on, the repair will take place in spring 2021) has to be overcome. From there, down the valley, the Freiberger Mulde is reached. In the left direction it is not far to Otto Altenkirch Straße. A steep climb leads to the memorial plaque at the site of the former birthplace. The circular route leads via Preusserstrasse and Liebichstrasse to Wasserturmstrasse, and there is a bust in honor of Amalie Dietrich at the daycare center.

Further on, on the embankment to the main road, the path with connection to the Zellwald is taken on the left. The Dietrich family's center of life was in Forsthofstrasse, and it is also visible through a memorial plaque. Finally, the circular route ends at the market with a view of Amalie and Caritas' house before they leave for Hamburg. A memorial plaque announces this.
