Born in Ziesar in 1875, Otto Altenkirch is one of the late Impressionist landscape painters. He found intensive painterly analysis of real natural spaces in tree-lined avenues, forest edges, fields, floodplain landscapes and rural architecture around Siebenlehn. Different weather conditions were the challenges for him and the associated lighting moods. The viewer feels the shimmering heat or the bitter cold in his works. Tree alleys around Reinsberg and motifs on the Steyermühlenteich in Siebenlehn he repeated painterly at intervals, often several times in the seasons.
